Having read your explanation elsewhere, I'm still confused. Is the origin in the middle? Or is that infinity, and if so, is the origin is a strange place?

The origin is in the middle - it's the tiny circle or zero. The graphed coords of the upper red path are:
(-8,5) (5,-3) (-3,2) (2,-1) (-1,1) (1,0) (0,1) (1,1) (1,2) (2,3) (3,5) (5,8)
