Katanagatari, ep #4

(Oh, sure, I'll do blank verse blog week. Why not?)
I just watched Katanagatari 4
(the episode for April/Uzuki).
I can't believe they really pulled that off.
I didn't even realize that too
much of the running time was used up in
Nanami's fight against the Insect Squad
for us to see the "main card" duel between
the wand'ring pair and Sabi Hakuhei
until the picture cut to them inside
a restaurant discussing how it went.
I should be disappointed, shouldn't I?
But I enjoyed the fight we saw instead,
and missing the big battle, which was hyped
up so so much ahead of time and then
was even more excitedly enthused
about in past tense, made me laugh out loud
at just how well this anime can play
with expectations and with genre tropes.
Nanami is a character I like
who didn't show in chapters two and three
so yay! She got some spotlight time at last.
I hope she follows up on her "maybe"
and meets up with her bro and Togame.
(I'm guessing it will happen in July.)
